Systemic Coaching for Life Transitions

Coaching that meets you right where you are at...

Amelia Psmythe Seger with her eyes closed holding a shell. Systemic Coach for Life Transitions

A prospective client recently joined a discovery call describing his state as “a personal inferno.”

Change was nigh, and he could feel the heat.

When I suggested a coach approach, he told me that coaching seems like, “muddled, fuzzy, endless talking.”

I thanked him for his honesty, then assured him that skilled coaching is precise, oriented towards actionable goals, and focused on building agency.

He chose a Precision Focus coaching package, and wrapped up by sending the powerful reflection below.

Systemic Coaching is personal.

  • Systemic coaching meets you right where you are at, without agenda or judgment. There is a fundamental curiosity and courage to acknowledge the current reality.

  • Explores and honors your lived history, present in this life, family lineages and lore, and larger contexts such as organizations, institutions, or social constructs. By including everything that has happened and the parts that belong, there’s no longer energy lost to denial or resistance.

  • Supports releasing limiting patterns by noticing where unconscious agreements or behaviors may have originated that no longer serve.

  • Redirects attention and intentions, and grows personal and professional competencies while meeting responsibilities and exploring aspirations.

  • Nurtures systemic awareness, by building and leveraging skills in mental, emotional, and somatic intelligence.

  • Teaches system mapping and related principles, enabling you to become more adept at anticipating and meeting the upcoming future in new ways.

  • Strengthens your sense of purpose and leadership approach, through the development of personal resilience, capacity for depth, and clarity.

Systemic Coaching centers your wisdom...

Systemic coaching is an excellent option if you're looking for a place to explore hang-ups, experience accountability, identify opportunities, and create momentum on your path to living and leading more consciously. Coaching emphasizes the use of powerful questions to help you uncover your own wisdom about how to meet barriers and conflicts with new understanding. You own the outcome and the full credit for growth and change is yours.

Systemic Coaching with Amelia Psmythe Seger is unique

In addition to being a certified professional coach, I bring a systemic lens informed by two lineages. One is “Family Constellations,” which studies human systems (in families and workplaces) and the patterns we learn and make (for better or worse). The other is deep diversity, inclusion, and justice work, which I think of as the practice of honoring people over entrenched power structures. Both of these lineages are profoundly interested in releasing limiting beliefs while building our sense of belonging. And both invite us to create new ways of knowing, being, doing, and becoming - from self to system.

Systemic Coaching for Life Transitions

Find clarity in the chaos of change. Systemic coaching helps you reconnect to yourself so you can move forward with clarity and intention.

Accompaniment through an inferno

“Amelia, our voyage together has been remarkable! You have been my guide and companion through a personal inferno. You saw me, traveled with me, broke rock with me, and also celebrated with me. Precise, nuanced, and incisive, you helped me reach and explore deep recesses where in the past I’d turned away. You introduced me to the use of powerful, primordial limbic sentences that resonate in my chest as I reclaimed agency, power, and authority where I felt weak, defeated, confused, and insecure. You’ve helped me unveil ample capacity, confidence, purpose, and creative potential. It seems incredible to travel so far so fast."

A safe-enough space for fears, failures, and foibles

"I can trust Amelia with my fears, failures, & foibles. She listens compassionately & productively, offering back ways for me to discover more about myself and understand myself differently. I believe she wants the best for me without attempting to tell me what that is. She gives me space but doesn't leave me hanging. She carries the wisdom of someone who has done her own soul-searching and the discernment and presence to offer the wisdom judiciously."

Personal & professional transformation

"I'm beyond grateful for the work I've done with Amelia, which has truly transformed both my personal and professional realms. Amelia listens and processes at a deep and unique level, marking out the most potent communication points (spoken or otherwise) like no one I've worked with prior. Her many gifts and unique perspective inform her embodied and equitable approaches to understanding and transforming systems, decision-making, expanding awareness, and new ways of tending to the very real human connections and challenges we all face every day."

FAQs – Systemic Life Transition Coaching

How is Systemic Life Transition Coaching different from other approaches?

Coaching uses great questions to bring your wisdom to the forefront. Systemic Coaching weaves in the principles of human systems that formed some of our core beliefs and habitual ways of being. Bringing the two together helps you find clarity and feel grounded even amid big internal and external life transitions.

Do I need to know what I want to work on?

It’s ok to not know what to focus on at first. When we feel overwhelmed and beyond our supports, the feeling of “everything” is real. In our first session together, we will explore the territory of trouble or concerns that bring you. We will work through a collaborative process to establish focus areas. This is often soothing and supportive.

How often do you recommend we meet?

I recommend coaching sessions follow a consistent schedule. Either weekly or every other week seems to work best. We will also be flexible according to the agreements in our contract.

Do you assign homework during Life Transition Coaching?

Homework (or “homeplay”) is always mutually determined. Sometimes people ask this question because they dread homework and don’t want it. Other times, this question comes up because it’s a hope and expectation. I trust adults to know best what works for them, and I work with that.

What are Constellations, and why are they part of a coaching engagement with you?

Systemic Constellations are an embodied method to increase the flow of love within any given system. Constellations are a way to include your physical experience and support the greater system in which you exist. I typically recommend at least one Systemic & Family Constellation in every coaching engagement, as a way to efficiently add fresh insights and movement to your system. Experiencing this modality in its full expression augments many of the somatic and limbic references I offer during the coaching engagement.
